Debra Gail Ross is a proud fourth-generation fisherman who dedicated over 30 years to commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska. Born and raised in the charming fishing village of Gig Harbor, Washington, Debra’s connection to the sea runs deep. Her great-grandfather, John Samuel Ross, first settled in Gig Harbor after emigrating from the Island of Premuda in 1887.

Debra’s rich fishing heritage and firsthand experiences in a challenging industry have shaped her unique perspective, now shared through her writing. Her stories reflect not only her adventures at sea but also her resilience and determination in the face of life’s challenges.

Through her book, Just For The Halibut, Debra invites readers to connect with the authenticity and courage that define her life and work. She continues to live in Gig Harbor, where her family’s legacy and her passion for storytelling endure.
